The Doris
91.5FM - Phuket Island Radio's Finest
I can still remember hearing my first idea of music as my mother screamed "get this thing out of me"! 14 hours later life began for 'The Doris' in bonnie Scotland...
It was obvious from then on that music was going to be my life, at the age of 14 I was playing the drums (which my Mum and Dad loved), at 16 I started working as a roadie for my cousin who was performing whilst touring Scotland as a 'Mobile Dj' This was my taste of the big time for me, Weddings, Birthdays and even Divorce parties became my life... It was great!
The Dj bug had well and truly bitten 'The Doris', and after a few years on the mobile disco circuit, I soon became somewhat disillusioned by carrying speakers, record box's, lights etc from van to venue, especially when I was doing all this in the great weather of Scotland! So I decided to take another route, club-land, the bright lights and late nights really appealed to the new 'Discotastick' Dj Doris!
After 8 years performing in the UK, I answered an advert in a Dj magazine requiring "Personality Mixing Dj's" to work in Asia. Out of 3,456,135 applicants I was accepted.... 'The Doris' was the chosen one!
Before I knew it, I was on a plane and off to China... Wow, Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Yiwu, and lots of noodles. I loved Asia and everything it had to offer a megastar Dj like me!
Several seasons dancing till dawn, soon took its toll on 'The Doris', I was not as young as I use to be! This helped me to make my next decision. I will move on to the land of smiles.... Thailand, the place I now consider my home, where I continued to work as a club Dj and compare all over Phuket.
After a short return to 'Sunny Scotland' with a five year plan to return to Thailand that soon became five and a half years. I fulfilled my dream and returned to Phuket to launch my new company Siam Sound Media Co., Ltd which enabled me to develop entertainment throughout Phuket and begin as the afternoon show presenter for the then new 91.5FM Phuket Island Radio. Dj Doris had found his purpose in life...
That was two years ago and 91.5FM has grown to become Phuket's number one English speaking radio station whereas 'The Doris' I have grown an extensive fan base for my fantastic afternoon show which can be heard from 12.00 noon till 16:00 later in the afternoon on 91.5FM and online at www.phuketfmradio.com.
